Description
The standard route is 37 miles on a counter clockwise running from Hanover. We also have the option to extend into Hull for an additional 8 miles; this is not ridden frequently. This ride is suitable for beginners. Many of our advanced riders enjoy this route for the scenery and camaraderie. This is often a good recovery ride. There can be multiple groups rolling at different speed levels.
We cross into Scituate along Border Street from Cohasset. We often visit the BOX, which is a loop around the Minot Beach and Lighthouse area. Next, the route takes more views of the Coastline via Hatherly Street. It is a slight uphill ride back to Norwell after the stop for coffee in Scituate. Old Oaken Bucket has a reference to American literary history. It is a 2% grade that we traverse for a couple of miles. There are some steeper hills on the final run through Norwell into Hanover.
The 36 route from Hanover to Marshfield features more hills. We don’t tackle all of the worst but we conquer some hills that will be challenging for the beginner. It features a run past the water at a different spots.
There are also variants that reverse the direction of the route or ride through different sections of Cohasset, Scituate, or Norwell. We also have a 32 mile route through Norwell, Scituate, and Marshfield. Plus, the 48 mile route via the coast line in Marshfield.
