Great Norwell

We had fun at the Coastal Route, today.  It was not oppressively hot, either.

We had a good ride. Craig, Travis, and I rode for the 37 mile route. It is 39 miles with the box. We are working on new routes to keep it fresh and different. The 39 miles on the new route could feature a coffee stop at the other “French Memories.”

We had 24 starters for the ride, today. Most rode the 30 mile route. Vito met the group at Coffee Corner. We saw some of the Blue Hills gang roll through border street at Z5; this means that they were racing past us.

We had new rider, Steve, that joined the group. The weather was perfect in comparison to some of those tough days of a few weeks past. We will keep the ride at 8 AM for a few more weekends, but eventually we will move to a 9AM start-time.

The new pavement on Circuit street is wonderful. Some of the shots are from Circuit street. Some rode over the million dollar mile. Others went up the repaved Pleasant St. Circuit to Pleasant is completely new!

Final days of Summer

The last Marshfield ride of the season will be on Wednesday, August 31. The ride start is from Furnace Brook Middle School in Marshfield.  We roll at 6PM, sharp.  Let’s hope that we can have this ride again for the next year.  It has been off to a good start.  The ride was initiated late in the season.  You have to come to the weekly rides every week.  Otherwise, no one actually shows!  It can’t just be there for when you need it.  You have to go and support your clubmates.

The ride on Saturday will be from Norwell High School.  We will ride 30 to 50 miles depending on the interests of the attendees.

Last week, we had about 8 riders choose the 30 mile option.  8 other riders went for the 50 mile route.  The 50 mile route has about 1800 feet of elevation gain in 50 miles.  The 50 mile route features some rolling hills in Marshfield followed by a return to Scituate via the roads of Cohasset and a portion of the Coastal Route.

We tried a new a new starting location on August 20.

We parked at the free municipal parking lot in Plymouth.  Yes, there is a free lot.  We went for a nice ride along many of the recently paved roads in the cranberry country. Somehow, OCipollini managed to find a number of fresh roads with low traffic counts.

The ride went along the infamous Billington Sea.  We headed into Myles Standish Forest.  There were a few mini-rollers in the Forest.  Most of them were on fresh and black tarmac.  We stopped at the Ranger’s station for a break.

We continued into the cranberry country and went past many of the cranberry bogs of Carver and Middleboro.  We went west and were close to the Lakeville line.  We were not too far from the other Cranberry route that we developed.

It was a great ride.  We went for coffee and sandwiches after the ride.  In the picture below Dan had disappeared.  Len took the picture.
