Halloween Ride

Some stopped to take pictures at the various Halloween spots. In the above picture is Andy, Pam, Maria, and Judy.  Maria is wearing the new podium 14590418_10209933260343549_4223094256235141248_njackets from DNA cycling that we ordered.  Toasty!  There is a second order of the jackets that is being fulfilled.  We will also make swaps with people to handle sizing errors.  Mike Togo is managing the jacket order.

In the picture to the left is most of the B and C groups at Togoland.  Togoland used to be actually laid in a different configuration from when we first created this route.  It has changed a little bit.  The town improved the safety of the roadway by changing the mouth of Fuller road and the intersection.  Togoland is located at Fuller and Thompson Street in Middleboro.

There was great turnout for the Hanson ride.  We had several groups. We had 40 riders.  Many rode 35 miles.  We had a new member, Eric, from Pennsy.  He just moved here! A large number of the group

rode the 28 mile route through Fuller street and Franklin street.  Franklin street was repaved last month. This section runs past the infamous Corn Maze.  The transformation of the riding experience is immense.  Instead of riding a death trap full of people sized potholes we had fresh and smooth asphalt without any breaks.  Irish Liz and John lead a group.  Greg also lead another B group.  Mike lead the C group and Judy lead a C group on the 32 mile loop.

We will ride again next week! I hope to see a lot of people in Norwell on Saturday. The weather should be great for next weekend.  Many were hiding their SSB jerseys underneath those wind jackets due to the gusting winds.  Many brave souls braved the ride, today.  In the middle of the first picture Travis is wearing his podium jacket.

We had a nice turnout. Riders included Don, Sean, Rob, Lauren, Vito, Tracy, Pam, Ilene, Mike,John, Tom, Chris, the other Don, Mohammed, Travis, Aruba Tom, Ian, and a few more. I was surprised that we had so many riders with the reports of a wind watch and such from the National Weather Service. There was a strong headwind on 105. A bunch did the 32 mile route. Others did the short route. The wind would gust at times.

We had a great coffeehour after the ride at the Dunkin’!

Thanks to everyone for making this a strong club.

Example of the podium jackets

Mike Togo will supervise another run of Podium Jackets. These are nice jackets to wear for the winter riding. We need a minimum of 5 to order. Mike will have the order closed within the week.https://www.dnacycling.biz/ssb/team-gear.html is the link to the club store.

I am wearing a 3XL. Many of the ladies and guys fit a large or perhaps a medium. These jackets do not run similar to the jerseys in cut. The jackets come in Race cut only. Therefore, you have to size up. Take a look at the sizing charts.

Thanks,
Bill O’Hara

Linda rode MS Global during the past week.   She raised a lot of money for the Multiple Sclerosis fund.  Vito was also riding as a crew chief.  The South Shore Bikers were well represented.

In the picture above was Tyler Hamilton with Linda. Linda would ride with him over the past 7 days.  Tyler Hamilton raced for gold in the Olympics.

Great Norwell

We had fun at the Coastal Route, today.  It was not oppressively hot, either.

We had a good ride. Craig, Travis, and I rode for the 37 mile route. It is 39 miles with the box. We are working on new routes to keep it fresh and different. The 39 miles on the new route could feature a coffee stop at the other “French Memories.”

We had 24 starters for the ride, today. Most rode the 30 mile route. Vito met the group at Coffee Corner. We saw some of the Blue Hills gang roll through border street at Z5; this means that they were racing past us.

We had new rider, Steve, that joined the group. The weather was perfect in comparison to some of those tough days of a few weeks past. We will keep the ride at 8 AM for a few more weekends, but eventually we will move to a 9AM start-time.

The new pavement on Circuit street is wonderful. Some of the shots are from Circuit street. Some rode over the million dollar mile. Others went up the repaved Pleasant St. Circuit to Pleasant is completely new!
